Alison has been invited to deliver two watercolour painting workshops at this year's AUSTRALIAN WATERCOLOUR MUSTER BIENNALE 2025; a festival of everything watercolour, that is held in Cairns every second September.

Alison has recently conducted watercolour workshops at the Artisans of Australia Gallery in Curlewis on the Bellarine.  If you are interested in developing your watercolour painting skills, and you were unable to get to Alison's Bellarine sessions, you may wish to consider a visit to Tropical North Queensland to warm up after Victoria's Winter.  Festival events in Cairns include a wide range of expert workshops and demonstrations from international and local artists, and an Exhibition of 32 Best in Muster watercolour paintings showcasing the colours of Australia.

The Australian festival is part of a network of over 80 Countries linked together via the FabrianoInAquarello Italy Art Symposium, held annually in Fabriano and Bologna.  Alison has represented Australia with paintings exhibited at the FabrianoInAquarello Symposium for the last 5 years, including 2025, one of her paintings of the Bellarine is currently on display in Bologna, Italy.

In Alison's two one-day sessions in Cairns, you will discover how NOT to paint within the lines!  If you are struggling to break away from neat and tidy, this is the workshop for you; you will have the opportunity to explore painting freely in watercolour without feeling out of control.

In her work Alison celebrates the natural wonder of the coastal area where she lives on The Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria.  Alison paints with fluid, expressive brushstrokes, to capture the changing light, the movement and the rhythms within her subjects, from the dynamic energy of the water to the peaceful presence of the birds that frequent the shores.  Join Alison to explore subjects of natural content.  A variety of images will be available for participants to use during the workshop; this will allow you to choose something that you will enjoy painting rather than painting the same as everyone else in the group.  Images for inspiration will include sea, sky and land, that can be painted with freedom, in an interpretative style rather than photo-realistic detail.

Watercolour painting techniques will be discussed, as well as key considerations in designing a successful painting.  The aim of the workshops is to extend the skills of participants and to help them to find their own painting style.

The workshop content is suitable for those with some painting experience, who may be new to watercolour or who wish to further develop their existing watercolour technique.

Two sessions are available in Cairns:

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 18 AND

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 19 2025

10am - 4pm each day.

Alison would love to see you there!
